Three goose feathers found in a meadow
not shed naturally
still attached at the base
memory to a violent death by huntsman or fox
memory to an evolution of taking wing
failed just this once
or perhaps a peaceful passing
no longer needed to capture thoughts in ink
the three feathers figure as friends
turning the world upside down
they have adopted me as their pet.

I want to feel good about my future, because
