Description
Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being. It is characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. When you are happy you are feeling good.
Welfare, well-being and happiness are more or less the same thing. Hence, the phrase ‘animal welfare’ should be about the same as ‘animal happiness’. However, these phrases differ. Scientists, for example, will only rarely refer to themselves as experts in animal happiness. Nevertheless, the promotion of happiness, which includes the reduction of unhappiness, is of paramount importance to animal welfare. It may well be the most important thing in life for any sentient creature. Not only for humans, but for animals as well.
